Year-Long Practicum Requirements

  • Attend at least 8 of 9 possible clinical trainings.
  • Complete at least 4 of 6 possible peer observations during clinical trainings.
  • Attend 5 of 5 possible seminars at local site.
  • Complete at least 4 of 6 possible observations conducted by a UURC staff member.
  • Receive 2 satisfactory ratings for observations conducted by a UURC staff member.
  • Complete requisite minimum number of tutoring sessions (ES = 85; NS = 45).
  • # re-licensure points determined by participant attendance.
  • Re-licensure points entered on UURC certificate:
  • 9trainings x 3 hours= 27
    6 observations x 1hour each= 6
    5 seminars x 1 hour each= 5
    maximum possible points= 38
    3 CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS
    EARLY STEPS: SPED 5633-030 / SPED 6633-030
    NEXT STEPS: SPED 5634-030 / SPED 6634-030

Summer Practicum Requirements

  • No more than 2 absences during practicum.
  • Tutor satisfactorily as determined by UURC staff & conduct peer observations when required.
  • Student pays $375 practicum fee, which includes manual and binder.
  • #re-licensure points determined by participant attendance.
    • 25 Re-licensure points entered on UURC certificate
    • One contact hour = 1 re-licensure point
    • Contact hour = contact with UURC staff; tutoring hours are not contact hours

2-Day Discover Intensive Phonics Training Requirements

Note: university credit given based on a minimum of 33 contact hours with UURC staff (value = 2 credit hours) and 45 hours of field experience tutoring ES or NS (value = 1 credit hour).
